Some would say Anais was a woman before her time, but I think she was a woman who grew to know herself, and who is to judge how one should be at any point in time? I think she was a woman in \"her\" time.

Wow- I stopped here because during an internet search I discovered an obituary of Rupert Pole. I met him on a hike in Griffith Park a few years ago. A strange old man followed me up a path; not knowing who he was I tried to avoid him, but at the top of the path there was nothing to do but acknowledge him. He asked if I was an actor and I said yes; he said I looked like his wife when she was very young and said I might have heard if her-her name was Anais Nin. I told him my middle name was Anais and he looked a little shaken. He extended an invitation to dinner, which regretfully I never accepted, but he took my address and a few days later sent me a little package with a few books. I still have them somewhere. I knew very little about either of them at the time but am delighted to have found this forum. -Kate

Wonderful, wonderful people. . .thank you sooooo much for continuing this site! I was sooo worried you would eventually stop after the last time I visited a while ago. I can breathe again! I\\\'m SOOOOO HAPPY! I adore Anais. I was only eight years old when she left this world richly permeated with her wonderment. It was twenty years later that I discovered her--a journey that began with my copy of \\\"Delta of Venus\\\" followed by everything Anais I could acquire on eBay. The journey continues. . .Joy returned to you for your efforts!

Her renaissance eyes, lit from without to penetrate her deepest recesses, spiraling back as a sparkling spirit. So ahead of her time, so admired, so spurned; to me, a rarest vintage, yearned.
