Finished reading "Collages" and loved it so much that I passed it on to a friend... Here's my 5 star review on Amazon.com: "For me this book read like a collage of images strung together seamlessly by a multitude of characters in differing places... Places that Renate traveled to, lived in, loved in and much more... Once again, with Anais' mellifluous word usage, I felt like I was right there traveling with her - Savannah Skye..." - cheers - Savannah Skye @ http://geocities.com/savvy1007

My interest for Anais Nin turned out from an essay I had to write about a French Writer for school. I picked her because her quotes grabed my attention. Now that I know more about her She has became my favorite writer. I understand her feelings and way of thinking. I'm glad there is a web site just for her and her loving memory.

Anais Nin ,is my favorite writer. I wish so much that her house that she lived in was a musuem. Even though I have read all her writings that she has ever wrote I wish so much to know more. Anais Nin was a wonderful person in everything that she touch or written was about her. And we are shown the person that she was. I owe all her work and I love her. She inspires me in so many ways. And her diaries I wish that they were in a musuem for others to not touch but to observed. She was a wonderful writer , and the things that have done for her and the books that were written about her is not enough, I love her and always will.

I began reading Anais' Diaries at 19 years old, back in the 80's. I was so moved that I read all of her works as soon as I could find them...even the erotica she wrote. As a fellow Pisces and writer, I am ever indebted to Anais' life and collected works, as they changed me forever.

anais needed "1000" lovers to give her the attention/"love" she needed, to compensate her for the betrayal by her father's desertion of her when a child. rupert pole, just one man, gave her more attention, affection, real love, than her father or those "1000" ever did. the psychology of rupert's afect on her is that he must be one hell of a male. i ponder my own male qualities. i ponder my past, my mother, my father, my "luck" in the women and men in my life. i ponder; within; being an anais.... sigh; does the pondering never end, so that i can replace it with a life ?. trauma/pain drives us inward into eternal introspection; good for writing; but not for living or for having a life....

i first met anais most recently, and now, through reading of her, she has become an emotional entity, who, residing in my memory, is connected in her effects to my mind and emotions for all time. We get to read of the uniqueness of people like anais, or perhaps to see them in the street; but we never get to meet them.... Except perhaps when we have captured them in our memories, like I have with anais; where she will never die, but always be a part of me; connected, from my memory, to my mind and emotions for life.... signed --- a would be writer.

Belém Pará: Anais Nin had an affair with June Miller (Henry Miller's wife), so I suppose you could refer to her as having had a bisexual affair. But to my knowledge that was her only bisexual affair, and Anais Nin never used the term "bisexual." ---You should probably keep in mind that this affair took place in France, just outside of Paris, during the 1930s. There were probably less taboos back then, and having an affair with another of the same sex was probably not seen as a declaration of a political identity. In other words, Anais probably never labeled herself either way.

To Conrad Planas, In regard to Anais Nin's last name, I think you are very close to the truth. As a person who speaks Spanish (though not fluently), I know that in Spanish it would be pronounced "Neen." And I think that Spanish would be the logical way to say it, since Anais Nin's father was Spanish. But the pronunciation of "Nin" as in, well, "in" or "Inn," is how most English speakers will pronounce it. I must add that I'm a bit surprised that of the two names it is her last name you are curious about. For the longest time, I was calling her "uh-NYE-us" Nin. It wasn't until I saw the movie "Henry and June" that I realized it was "anne - eye - EESE." ~ Andrew

I love Anais Nin's beauty. everything about her style of writing to the "portraits" of June, Henry, and Helba were exclusively wonderfull. I adore her as well as her pain and suffering. But, if i had known her i would have told her to stop giving. People continously over looked her and used her because of her Virgin Mary-like selflessness. I hope she is resting now... but about this site, I was offended when i read there will be no more voulumes of Ms. Nin's diary now that Gunther has died. And it was his "dying wish"... no offense to anyone, but he is a dead man. and even though Anais is also dead, we should give her the respect she deserves, did she want all her diaries to be published? or would she rather keep them safe and unedited in her bank vaults? I think you should stop printing or keep printing according her wishes. Not Gunthers...

Please, how is Miss Nin's last name pronounced? Since it is Catalan I assume it would be as in English "Neen", but, since she flourished in France, it may be pronounced "Nahn" (nazalized n) à la française as "van Gogh" and "Chopin" are.

It is important that "Our New World" open its hearts and minds to care for the solitary woman's voice. Anais Nin is very fortunate to have best friends in Rupert Pole, Gunther Stuhlmann, Alan Swallow. We can thank them for their public love in the last decade of her life and afterwards.

While most here are of the divine feminine... I am a man... whose perception of joy has been enhanced by Anasis' book... not for the taking of love, rather the giving of it. I have learned in spite of myself, and the sweet ladies in my life have seen the difference.
