But to my knowledge that was her only bisexual affair, and Anais Nin never used the term "bisexual." ---You should probably keep in mind that this affair took place in France, just outside of Paris, during the 1930s. There were probably less taboos back then, and having an affair with another of the same sex was probably not seen as a declaration of a political identity. In other words, Anais probably never labeled herself either way.

As a person who speaks Spanish (though not fluently), I know that in Spanish it would be pronounced "Neen." And I think that Spanish would be the logical way to say it, since Anais Nin's father was Spanish. But the pronunciation of "Nin" as in, well, "in" or "Inn," is how most English speakers will pronounce it. I must add that I'm a bit surprised that of the two names it is her last name you are curious about. For the longest time, I was calling her "uh-NYE-us" Nin. It wasn't until I saw the movie "Henry and June" that I realized it was "anne - eye - EESE." ~ Andrew

I adore her as well as her pain and suffering. But, if i had known her i would have told her to stop giving.
